Giveaway day is here!

update: the giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Brandi, #250, my winner! Thanks to all who played along.

Today is the day we've all been waiting for! It's Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway day!
If you found your way here from the Sew Mama Sew blog, welcome! I hope you'll come back again soon. If you're a regular ellyn's place visitor/follower/friend, bet you're glad you stopped by today. I'm always happy to have you.

What's that? Get on with it, you say? Oh, right... the giveaway! How's this...
If you dropped by over the weekend, you saw that I've been crocheting dishcloths. They are yummy 100% cotton yarn, perfect for cheering up your dishwashing duties (and they're green. so if perhaps dishwashing is hubby's job, he won't object to the color, right?). I added in two kitchen towels with a bit of patchwork to make you (or the kids) smile while the dishes are being dried.

I'm pretty sure there will be some other little surprises that will make their way into the package too! And I'll be happy to ship it anywhere in the whole wide world...

All you have to do is leave me a comment on this post by this Friday, May 25. Tell me who does the dishes in your house. Or, what you're cooking for dinner tonight. Or anything you want (you can just say "pick me pick me" no guarantees though). If you want to click "follow" on my sidebar that would be awesome too! It won't help you in the giveaway, but it'll help you find your way back here when the madness is over. I will use the handy dandy random number generator to pick a winner on Saturday... oh, make sure I have a way to contact you. If I pick a no-reply-blogger with no email I'll have to choose someone else. That would be sad!

I would love, love, love to win this set! They are so pretty! I usallly fall short and never get anything made for myself, so it would be nice to have something handmade. Of course, I'm not actually the one who does the dishes in the house (my husband does), but still... :)

Amy's Crafty Shenanigans said...

Wow these are aawesome!! My favourite colour!! Tonight I am cooking my birthday supper of spagetti and meatballs (not exciting but very tasty) and I will probably do the dishes too. Such is life!!! Great giveaway - many thanks for letting me enter!

These would be perfect in my new house!! Otherwise, I'll have to buy some :)

Thanks for the chance !

My husband usually does the hand-dishes in the evening, but if we eat too late or something, then they fall to me the next day.

kathy said...

My retired husband generally does the dishes. I practice being grateful nearly every day even when he does them differently than me.

You might consider turning off the undecipherable word verification. Blogger does a good job detecting spam and you can always 'approve' comments.

we will have vegetable soup with bits of ham for dinner and of course freshly baked bread

Alyson said...

Hrm. Well, my husband and I switch off - one of us does the dishes and the other does bedtime with our son. It's a happy medium. And for dinner tonight? It's "Meatless Monday" so I'm thinking we'll probably have pancakes. Pancakes are always a big hit for dinner. :-)

We do have to hand wash dishes in our house. I miss having a dishwasher, lol. But I only have to do dishes when everyone else is away. Otherwise it is the mother in law's job to do dishes. I do the cooking.
Thank you for the chance to win these.

drmithome said...

The dish towels are really nice. We do have a dishwasher and most nights my husband cleans up the kitchen, including hand wash items. Got to love a man with a servant's heart.

Michell said...

We all do dishes in this house depending on who is working or not that day

Brooke said...

I do all the dishes at my house- or at least I am supposed to! I have a lot of "morning" sickness and they seem to be piling up. :P I love crochet dishcloths and even made a few this month. :)

These dish clothes are charming! I usually do the dishes. When my husband has time or wants to put me in a good mood (when I'm having a rough day) then he will help me do them. :)

fern said...

If I do the cooking, I ask my husband to do the washing...but it sometimes ends up the neither of us do it and grandma(my mom) does it while visiting! Other days I do the dishes...
I've never used a crocheted dishcloth and would LOVE to try this out! how fantastic! I bet they don't end up smelling like disgusting sponges because they can be washed!

Holly U said...

What a sweet set! They'd look great in our new house. The house we're selling has a dishwasher but the one we'd like to buy does not. The deal in our house is that when I cook, my husband cleans up and vice versa. Since I do most of the cooking, he's insisting that we get a dishwasher at that house ASAP...

Susan @ MadebyMommainPA.Blogspot.Com said...

Love the color combo, such pretty fabrics:)
Lol at our house the dishwasher does the dishes...except for the toddler's sippy cups those fall to whomever is unlucky enough to discover the few we use are dirty! Little man is switching to real cups so we're cutting down:)

T said...

In my house, the dishes are bit contentious. Sometimes I do the washing up, sometimes he does the washing up, and sometimes...his mother does the washing up. I'm not proud of it at all but sometimes it's just what happens!

bethanndodd said...

I do the dishes most of the time but my husband does help out(he is a work in progress...ha!). The towels are just lovely. Thanks for the chance. Smiles~Beth

Lindsay said...

I wash the dishes...all by hand. Our new (to-us; it's actually almost 100 years old) house doesn't have a dishwasher. We are going to get a portable one once we save up a little bit more money. For now, washing dishes takes up a big chunk of my time!

Lindsay said...

I wash all the dishes by hand. It is the one chore my husband pretty much refuses to do, and we don't have a dishwasher!

Lindsay said...

I do the dishes, but yesterday, I made my 8yo dry them and she said "Why do you make me do ALL the work!?" So I told her if she complains again she can wash them, too. :)

krislovesfabric said...

We take turns on dishes, but my turn comes up most often, thanks for a chance at such cheery cloths!!

Kim @ TatjanaGrace said...

We have an agreement at our house that whoever cooks doesn't have to do the dishes, so my husband does them pretty much all the time.
Great colours! Love that green :D. Thanks for the giveaway!

I wish I could say that I have an Elf who appears each night to clean my dishes and kitchen...but...no luck! I pretty much do all the cleaning around here. (Which would be so much more fun with new dishtowels!! Haha!)

We all do dishes. Kids do it during the week, Me and hubby do it on the weekends. And Pork Chops are for dinner tonight!

Jessica Jo said...

I do the dishes and I refuse to use the dishwasher. It drives my husband crazy but I don't care. It hurts my back bending over like that AND it's extra storage space.

Tonight for dinner we are having a slow cooker meal from my new "French SC" book. Spinach meat balls, nom nom nom!

Mostly I do the dishes. Oh God and I'm tiired of it. I've been doing the dishes since I was 5. I really need a dishwasher but for now those beautiful dish cloths will do.

How cute!

My husband and I have an unspoken agreement. If I do the dishes and the kitchen, he will clean everything else. Which works for us. He can clean our house from destroyed (like really DESTROYED) to presentable enough for my grandma (which is CLEAN) in 20 minutes TOPS. It would literally take me all day to do that. I'm not sure what we do differently.

I do the dishes and have not had an electric dishwasher for 20 years. Much of the time, I find dish washing a bit meditative. Now having new dish cloths would certainly cheer me up. I do put my kids to work when they stop by to share a meal so they would get a chance to use the beautiful dish towels.

Thank you for the opportunity to win!

My mother made a rotating dishwasher duty list for me and my siblings; even though we don't do dishes more than three times a week each we still don't like doing dishes :). Thanks for the giveaway; love the bright green.

Our 11 year old is in charge of the dishes as we now have a dish washer but it use to be me... For dinner? No idea because thats my hubby's talent haha...

Love your crocheting. It's beautiful. I'm the chief dish washer in my house so these would definitely cheer me up.

Dinner tonight is risotto! We're just trying to run our cupboards down before moving house, so lots of food is store cupboard meals. Veggies for tonight are from the freezer, frozen from our garden!

homemade dish cloths are the best. that is what I like to use when I'M cleaning up dinner!

Dish duty in our house is a famly affair. The husband and I wash all of the dishes that are not dishwasher safe and the kiddos load and unload the dishwasher.

These little goodies would be a perfect addition to our kitchen.

I live alone, so do all the washing up!

if by "wash the dishes" you mean load the dishwasher... i do that. however if dishes get washed by hand it is done by my mother in law because she doesn't believe in waiting on a dishwasher load to finish washing before loading the rest of the dishes into the machine! she's old fashioned like that!

Those are lovely - and the green is just delicious! I typically do the dishes, although my husband will too. My kids are still a little too clumsy for me to have them help, but soon enough, they'll be doing them!

Dish duties are shared in our house. I'm sure we'd all enjoy the chore a little more with your lovely dishcloths and tea towels! Thanks for the chance to enter.

I NEED this set. When I was married there was a family member who crocheted dishclothes and they were the best things!!! I do the dishes, by hand!! UGH! Just in case, my info is: scrapgirl1467 (at) yahoo (dot) com

My husband does the dishes when they've been piling up for a while, otherwise I do them. Our silly dishwasher doesn't seem to get them very clean, so your cute washcloths would certainly help!

Everyone rinses their own dishes, then whoever notices the dishwasher is full starts it. The dishtowels are lovely, and I would love the chance to win them.

I do the majority of the dishes but my husband is a big help.

Very pretty! I am usually the one who loads the dishwasher at night and my husband unloads it in the morning. I do all the hand wash only items.

Love this set - so cute. I crocheted my own dishcloths but they are getting a bit raggedy after a lot of use :) I'm lucky that my husband helps with dishes ... but I do all the coking so it's only fair.
